LEO PETERSON Peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the Lakeshore General Hospital, Leo Peterson, aged 92 years of Ashern, MB, beloved husband of Runa, passed away. He leaves to mourn his wife of 63 years, Runa (nee Emilson); daughter Carol (Barry), grandchildren Dawn, Shannon (Danny) and Erica (Ian); son Kris (Lorraine), grandchildren Karla (Chuck), Travis (Andrea) and Tyler (Montana); daughter Debbie (John), grandchildren Sean and Kyle; son Brian; sisters Freda and Doris; brothers-in-law Barney, Siggi and David; sister-in-law Maria along with many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dad is predeceased by his parents Geirfinnur and Johanna; his brothers Lloyd and Lincoln; his sisters-in-law Shirley and Rhoda; brothers-in-law Jack, Bob, George and Kristin. He especially will be missed by his good friend Ben Podlaski and his brother-in-law Siggi Emilson. Dad was a farmer and a commercial fisherman. He fished on Lake Manitoba for over 60 years. He was a loyal Elks member, loved golfing and visiting with friends at the cabin at Silver Bay. He had a great sense of humour and loved to play practical jokes on his numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Ashern Centennial Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Service will conclude at the hall and an interment will be held at later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leo's memory to the Lakeshore Hospital Guild, c/o Julie Bergner, P.O. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Lakeshore General Hospital, the Eriksdale Personal Care Home and the Ashern Personal Care Home for the exceptional care they gave to our Dad.
