NETTIE HRICHISHEN Peacefully on February 1, 2010, Nettie Hrichishen passed away at the age of 88 years. Baba will be greatly missed by daughter Frances Sishka and her husband John of Brandon; son Jim Hrichishen and his wife Mary of Winnipeg; grandchildren Carlene Sishka and Christopher, Laura, Daniel and Melissa Hrichishen, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1992 and by all 12 of her sisters, brothers, stepsisters and stepbrothers. Nastia Burak was born in Fishing River on May 16, 1921. She was the youngest child of Harry and Franciszko Burak. She married John Hrichishen in 1942 and they farmed and raised a family in Sifton. In 1968 the family moved to Dauphin and Nettie joined the staff of St. Paul's Home where she worked until her retirement. She moved to Winnipeg in 1993 and lived an independent and happy life for 17 years. She was always a caring and dedicated baba and mother and found her greatest joy in her five grandchildren, her children and in her rosary, which was never far from her side. Nettie's family extends their sincerest thanks to Dr. Richard Blouw and Penny, and to Nurse Karen and the other dedicated homecare professionals who provided exceptional care and assistance over the past several years. Prayers for Nettie will be offered on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. from the Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Chapel in Dauphin. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. from the Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Chapel with Father Yaroslav Strukhlyak officiating. Interment will follow in the Dauphin Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus Dauphin Council. Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Nettie may be made to a charity of one's choice.
