Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySIDNEY GEORGE BLACKER We are sad to announce that Sid died peacefully on January 31, 2010. Sid was born in Winnipeg on June 7, 1911. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mabel Blacker and his beloved wife Claire. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Sue (Wayne) Morrison, Judy (Keith) Tinsley, Craig (Kathy) Blacker and Laurel (John) Crouse; his grandchildren: Michelle (Quinn) Menec, Michael (Shawn) Morrison, Jennifer (Glen) Douglas, Carolyn (Tom) Pearce, Jeff Tinsley, Joe (Alanna) Blacker, Heather (Paul) Blacker, Hayley (Greg) Sylvester, Aynsley (Chuck) Crouse, Erin (Jesse) Novak, and Stephanie Crouse. He also leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren and his goddaughter, Leslie Hammerback. Sid worked for the CNR and then in 1938 went to the fledgling Trans Canada Airlines (Air Canada) from where he retired in 1971 as Chief Internal Auditor. Sid and Claire were long-time members of St. Alban's Anglican Church. Sid and Claire enjoyed travelling following his retirement with numerous trips overseas; especially England and Scotland. He enjoyed golf, registering a hole in one, and curling, where he had an eight ender. Sid and Claire revelled in family. Sid was most proud of all the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was delighted to share in many special occasions with his family. The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at the Victoria Hospital - 5th floor, for their care of Sid during the past four weeks. Special thank you to nurse Jacquelyn for her exceptional kindness and care towards Sid and his family. Miss me but let me go. When I come to the end of my road and the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that once we shared. Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take and each one must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know and bury your sorrow in doing good deeds. Miss me but let me go. At Sid's request a service will not be held. Family members will honour his memory in private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sid's name to Dreams Take Flight (Air Canada Charity), 355 Portage Ave, P.O. Box 768, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2N2. Go with our love as we cherish your memory.
