Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD WILLIAM BREEN January 5, 1943 - January 28, 2010 After a brief illness, Harry officially retired on Thursday, January 28, 2010. Remaining to forever cherish Harry's memory is his wife of 44 years, Margaret Elaine, and daughter Elsa Anne (Christopher). He was predeceased by his parents, William and Ann Breen. Harry was born and raised in Placentia, Newfoundland. Though he travelled the world in his military career, Newfie was where his heart remained! His years at Stony Mountain Penitentiary - as an employee, not an inmate! - had him yearning for the years of pension collecting and cooking. And he had a good run of those. No formal funeral service will be held. In honour of Harry's memory, just have a beer or two. He'd like that idea.

Harold and I met in August, 1963 at 2 Transport Company RCASC Camp Borden. As well as serving in Borden, we went to Cyprus at the same time and ended back in Canada at 2 Transport. We were each others best man. We played guitars and sang together and enjoyed each others company as well as sharing a taste for Black Velvet Rye with a splash of coca cola. While we only got to meet a few times over the time since he moved West, I still considered him a very dear friend. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing. When the time is right, I will sit and play my guitar and sip a glass of B V and coke and think of our great times together. God bless you my Newfie Buddy.
