PEARL SOPHIE CHUBEY (nee MACKELSON) It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Pearl Chubey on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 85 years of age. Pearl will be lovingly remembered by her husband Donald; their children Don Jr. (Patricia), Michael (Tina) and Patrick (Josie); grandchildren Curtis, Brittany, Michael and Alyssa. Pearl is also survived by her sister Kitty Ballen; sisters-in-law Violet and Muriel Mackelson; brothers-in-law Norman (Marilyn) and Ralph (Linda) Chubey along with numerous nieces and nephews. Pearl was born in Gonor, MB on December 14, 1924 and was a lifelong resident of the Lockport area. She married Don on September 25, 1948 and they enjoyed 62 wonderful years of marriage. She was employed by the T. Eaton Company and later with Parks Canada at Lower Fort Garry until her retirement. Pearl was a lifelong member of the Legion Ladies Auxillary where she volunteered her time and service. She also enjoyed many hobbies and crafts including knitting, gardening, baking and playing cards with family and friends. In their retirement years, mom and dad spent many winters as snowbirds in southern Texas. Sincere thanks to the staff at the Tudor Home for their care and compassion. Also special thanks to the Legion Ladies Auxillary. Cremation has taken place with a memorial service to be held on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB. Interment to take place at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, donations may be made in Pearl's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
