Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHITHPHAVANH (THIP) NANG SENGMANY-FERRIS Thithphavanh passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the St. Boniface Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Craig; daughter, Celina; son, Brandon; parents Kheo kham and Saweang Sengmany; sister Souksavane (Randy); brothers Aebert, Goy (Lillian), Que (Dale); in-laws Bob and Joan Ferris, Kent Ferris (Jungboon), and Kristin Ferris, nephew Dwayne, nieces Katherine and Elizabeth. Thithphavanh was born in Pakse, Laos on May 31, 1970. In 1978, her family left Laos and spent a year in Thailand at a refugee camp. They immigrated to Canada and settled in Virden, Manitoba. Affectionately known as Nang , she graduated from Virden Collegiate in 1990. In the fall of 1990, she began attending Brandon University. She and Craig met that fall and began dating the following Spring. On May 15, 1993, Craig and Thithphavanh were married in Winnipeg aboard the Paddle Wheel Queen. One year later, the first of her two joys appeared in her life. Ashley Celina Souphaphone Ferris was born on May 13, 1994. Two years later, Brandon Wyatt Sorlophong Ferris entered the world on July 22, 1996. This completed our Perfect Family as Grandma Langton used to refer to it. For the last 10 years, Thithphavanh could be found at hockey rinks in the wintertime watching the kids play hockey and camping and fishing in the summer time at Hecla Island, Falcon Lake and Killarney. Trips to California, Alberta, Minnesota and BC were fun vacations but her most memorable vacation was going home to Laos with her Dad in 2006. She enjoyed cooking, crafts and watching scary movies. She and the kids could be found doing one of the three almost every night. Although she loved all her jobs, the one that brought the most joy into her life was working as a Teacher's Assistant at Westdale. Her ability to share with the kids her knowledge and the gratification to see their improvements left a lasting impression on her. Since her first operation in June of 2007, she has shown strength, courage and determination. She could always depend on her two closest and longest friends, Alanna and Jasmine to pick up her spirits and brighten her day. Countless neighbours, friends and co-workers would come and visit and help out as they could. Irene was always there to take her for lunch, shopping or run other errands. Although some of the toughest times, these were also some of the most memorable times for Thithphavanh. We would like to thank all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Toronto General Hospital during Thithphavanh's stay. Special thanks to Dr. Lee, Dr. Tam and all the staff at CICU, MICU, and SCICU in Winnipeg; and Dr. Horlick and CICU in Toronto. Celebration of Thithphavanh's life will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Fund in Thithphavanh's memory. It was with deep sadness that I learned about Nang's passing. As her grade five teacher, I was blessed with a student who valued learning and other people. She made everyone around her happier with her gentle words and big smile. I feel fortunate in having had the opportunity to have known her and was grateful to learn about how happy she had been with her life and family. I feel great sorrow for your loss and will have all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Rose Faucher - Posted by: Rose Faucher (Family) on: Feb 12, 2010
