GISELE MARIE LAW (nee TURENNE) It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Gisele Law of Sioux Narrows, ON, on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Gisele was predeceased by her father-in-law William Law in 2002 and mother-in-law Dorothy Marie Law who passed away only a few hours earlier at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. Gisele leaves to mourn her passing, her husband of 38 years, Bob; her parents Paul and Simone Turenne; her sisters Carole McGetrick (Mike), Mona McMillan (Ian); brothers Jules Turenne (Louise), Luc Turenne (Jackie), Richard Turenne (Huguette), and nephews Kristian, Martin, Ashley, Joel, Nolin, Evan, Eric and nieces Lise, Pascale, Renée, Gabrielle, great-nephew Noah, and brother-in-law Bill Law (Donna Patola). In addition, her two dogs Karlie and Spencer wonder where she is, but can understand the sadness in Bob's eyes. Gisele was born on December 14, 1951 in St. Pierre-Jolys, MB and moved to Winnipeg with her family in 1965 where she attended Louis-Riel Collegiate and subsequently the University of Winnipeg. In 1969, she and Bob met and eventually married on February 5, 1972. This little French Canadian country girl was immediately swept away to the big world of Toronto. She developed her grit, determination and independence as Bob travelled extensively throughout Ontario. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Glendon College in Toronto and secured a position with a marketing firm. In 1975, Bob and Gisele bought out a retail shoe store in Brandon, MB where they spent ten great years. In 1985, upon the opening of an additional shoe store, Bob and Gisele moved to Winnipeg. At her retirement in 2005, Gisele was recognized for her enthusiastic commitment to public service in Brandon and Winnipeg as she progressed through several federal government positions from Employment Counsellor to eventually being promoted to Manager of the Human Resources Centre in St. Boniface. Gisele was a well-respected manager and her staff soon became like family. Gisele worked closely with the St. Boniface business community along with other French Canadian initiatives and issues. Although very independent, Gisele truly loved her immediate family and despite living away from Winnipeg for so long, she always remained in close contact with her parents, brothers, sisters and nieces and nephews. There were so many things to love about Gisele: the love for her family and friends, passion for all things in nature, love of organizing and cooking, compassion for others, dry sense of humour, devotion to the local arts community and her love of fashion. Gisele and Bob were very fortunate to travel to many holiday hotspots over the years and Gisele's quiet, calm and friendly disposition endeared her to all who met her. In 2005, Gisele and Bob retired to Sioux Narrows, ON, on the beautiful Lake of the Woods where they built their dream home, and worked and volunteered within the community. Gisele loved to read and was often found reading upstairs where she had a magnificent view of Regina Bay. Many thanks to the Intensive Care Units at the Kenora Hospital and Health Sciences Centre and to all the doctors and nurses for the exceptional care provided to Gisele - you are all true professionals, but with a sense of compassion. Special thanks also to friends and family for the many thoughts, prayers and support extended to Bob in particular and Gisele's family during this difficult time. A private service will be held for Gisele, with interment of the ashes to take place at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, and in recognition of Gisele's passion for reading and her support of the Sioux Narrows Library, donations may be made to the Sioux Narrows Library, in care of Librarian, P.O. Box 119, Sioux Narrows, Ontario P0X 1N0. We all loved you Gisele, and now you are truly free. Je t'aime. NEIL BARDAL INC. (204) 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
