KATHRYN IRENE AKISTER Sadly we announce the passing of Kathryn Irene Akister on Saturday, February 6, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband Ron and her son Alan. She is survived by sons John and David, sisters Muriel, Dorothy and Frances (Stuart), sisters-in-law Irene and Mary, and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, the US and overseas. Kathryn was born in Eriksdale, Manitoba. The family moved to Cornwall, England, returning to Winnipeg when she was a little girl. She attended Linwood School and St. James Collegiate. She was a lifelong member of St. James Gospel Chapel where she accepted Jesus Christ as a personal Saviour. Kathryn married Ron Akister in March of 1944, prior to his overseas service with the RCAF. They raised three sons - John, Alan and David. As a family, they enjoyed camping, car and rail travel and have many happy memories of their vacations. Kathryn had a varied working career which included McDonald Douglas Aircraft, Richardson's Securities, The Canadian Wheat Board and retired from Revenue Canada after many years of service. We remember her as a loving mother, aunt, friend, independent career woman, family historian while providing insight, humour and timely advice to her family. She loved family dinners and was devoted to her family. The funeral service will be held on Thursday February 11 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
