Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (BETTY) LAVOIE Peacefully with her family by her side, Betty passed away on February 7, 2010 at the age of 84 years. Betty was predeceased by her husband Guy Joseph Lavoie, parents, brothers, sisters, and son-in-law J.P. Berard. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Marie (J.P.), Gloria (Ron), and Judy (Rory); granddaughters Sherry (Art), Cheryl (Matt), Rachelle, Karen (Mike), Melissa (John), Monique, Amanda (Kenny); great-grandchildren Courtnay, Owen, Taylor, Noah and Liam. Betty was born in North Sydney, Cape Breton Island on April 13, 1925. She grew up in Corner Brook, Newfoundland which was always near and dear to her heart. Most of Nanny's heartfelt memories were of the times she spent in Corner Brook as a girl. She moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia where she met and married her husband Guy on September 5, 1949. They started their family, and progressively moved out West to Winnipeg where she made numerous friends. Betty was a loving mother and Nanny to her grandchildren. Everyone was always welcome at Betty's house, and her kind and generous nature was felt by all who knew her. She was fun-loving with a wonderful sense of humour. There was always laughter and fun when Betty was around. She had a special love for country music, especially Johnny Cash. Our Mom and Nanny will be missed dearly. She will be lovingly remembered and forever remain in our hearts. Her unique and elaborate way of storey-telling will be treasured and carried on forever. Special thanks to all the caring staff at Meadowood Manor, especially through the difficult last days. At Betty's request, cremation has taken place, and a private family gathering will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy in Betty's memory, if friends so desire, contributions may be made to the CNIB (Canadian National Institute For The Blind) 1060 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, MB, R3G 3M3 Funeral Arrangements in care of: WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVENUE (AT BOND) 224-1525
