Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE MABEL MCKEE PEARSON Gertie was born August 7, 1917 in Napinka, Manitoba and passed away February 9, 2010 at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Gertie was predeceased by her loving husband Robert (Bob) George Pearson Sr. in November 2003 and daughter Susan Lynne Pearson in October 2001, her sisters Frances McKee (1983), Margaret Delaney (1996) and brothers Alexander McKee (1931) and John McKee (1987). She is survived by her loving family: son Bob Pearson (Marlene McMillan Pearson), grandsons Rob and Glen Pearson of British Colombia, son-in-law Don Quigley, grandson Chris Quigley (Lisa) and granddaughter Allison Quigley (Jason Kowalenko), sister-in-law Ellen Swanson and numerous nieces and nephews. Gertie was a longtime resident of the North End of Winnipeg and West Kildonan, her latest residence being at 1080 Powers Street. When she was 18 years old she fell in love with her husband Bob Pearson whom she married immediately after he returned from serving overseas for four and one half years in the Second World War. They shared the ultimate bond, raising two children, four grandchildren, spending almost 60 years together that were filled with lots of laughs and smiles. They were both longtime members of St. Anne's Anglican Church and were very involved in the community. Gertie and Bob were square dancers and square dance instructors, something they enjoyed very much. Gertie had also been an avid bowler in the past and continued to bowl into her early 80s. She also made amazing butterscotch cookies and had a great sense of humour. In her later years, Nana loved to go for drives through Kildonan Park, watch TV (her favourite show being Coronation Street) and enjoyed going for coffee with friends. She loved spending time with her family and never hid her affection for her children, grandchildren, or nieces and nephews. Gertie was loved by everyone she met. She had a genuinely sweet character, infectious smile and a warm personality, made many friends, and was the ultimate role model for everyone she knew. We love and will miss you Nana. Memorial Service will be held at St. Anne's Anglican Church on Burrin and Aikins, on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Liz Richens officiating. Interment of ashes will be held later at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Anne's Anglican Church or the charity of your choice.
