Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRIAN JOSEPH MCKINNON August 8, 1948 - February 9, 2010 Peacefully, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with family by his side Brian Joseph McKinnon, aged 61 years, of Eriksdale, MB passed away at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital. Brian will be greatly missed by his wife Marilyn; daughter Maria and son Tom. Brian is also survived by sister Margie Ann; brother-in-law Rick (Sharon); sister-in-law Alice; nephews Kent, Kreg, Ryan, Kenny, Daniel and Mark; as well as many relatives and friends. Brian had a rewarding international career in financial services including 25 years with The Royal Bank of Canada, Senior Management and Executive roles with Manulife Financial and Investors Group. Through Brian's career he had many places to call home throughout Canada, the Bahamas and Japan but the most notable are his birthplace of Miramachi, NB, along with Whitby, ON, and Eriksdale, MB. For Brian, moving his family to take on new professional challenges was always an adventure. The most rewarding part was creating lasting friendships in each place he called home. Brian was always very community focused and took active roles in service clubs including the Knights of Columbus and the Royal Canadian Legion. It was in recent years that Brian was able to dedicate his time exclusively to do what he truly loved which was to serve his church and community. Brian worked for the Archdiocese of Winnipeg, was Reeve (aka Mayor) of Eriksdale, MB and served on many committees and boards. Brian loved to shake things up and always believed that a dedicated group of people working together could accomplish great things. Brian passed with great joy knowing that the Eriksdale Wellness Centre was nearing completion. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eriksdale Recreational Centre. Interment to follow in the Eriksdale Municipal Cemetery. Pallbearers for Brian that day will be Keith Lundale, Gail Holmes, Ernie Anderstedt, Tom Nevakshonoff, Arnie Lindell, Randy Mason. Honorary pallbearers will be Merle Day and Larry Weatherburn. Many thanks for all the care and kindness provided by the staff of CancerCare Manitoba - St. Boniface Hospital, Dr. Arara and the staff of E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital, Eriksdale, MB.
