ALVIN GETZ With deep sorrow his family announce the passing of Alvin Getz on February 7, 2010 at the age of 83. Al will be dearly missed by his wife Mary (nee Everall), his children, John (Donna Hallett) of Standard, AB, and Katherine (David Silverthorne) of Winnipeg, his grandchildren, Daniel and Elyse Silverthorne and Alexander Getz, his sister-in-law Janet Everall, nephews, nieces and many good friends. Al was born in Beausejour, MB, son of Daniel and Mary Getz. He met Mary Everall in Winnipeg, and they were married at Clear Lake, MB in July 1951. He held a number of jobs prior to graduating from the University of Manitoba in 1963. Al spent 27 years working for the Province of Manitoba in the Department of Health and Social Services. When he retired, he was the Director of Planning and Construction for the Manitoba Health Services Commission. Al's most precious times were spent with his family and friends, particularly summers at the lake and winters at Sarasota, Florida. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy. Private family interment has taken place at Elmwood Cemetery. Our family appreciates all the kindness shown by so many during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Rm.
