MARGARET GRACE MCKELVEY Margaret McKelvey (neé Murdoch) passed away, peacefully, on February 7, 2010, in the presence of her beloved grandson Peter and his wife Jill. Margaret was born on October 26, 1914 in Tullisville, SK. She was predeceased by her husband Merton and her stepchildren Irene, Glen, Keith, Jean and Norma, and is survived by her stepdaughter Bernice ( Bunny ), sister Myrtle, daughter-in-law Pat, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Margaret led a long life of service to her family, commencing with her role as the elder daughter of a large farm family of eight siblings on the family homestead farm in Saskatchewan. Later she continued as devoted wife to Mert and mother to her six stepchildren and to Peter. She raised her siblings and later her stepchildren through difficult times with limited resources, and displayed great skill as a mother, homemaker, cook and needlewoman. Margaret was able to spend time on her painting and her love of history and nature. She was an active member of Charleswood United Church and of the Rebekahs. A Memorial Service will be held for Margaret on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at The Wellington, 3161 Grant Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Margaret's memory to The Winnipeg Humane Society.
