Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBETTY VIVIAN MCAMMOND (nee Stewart) 1921 - 2010 Our mother passed away peacefully at The Golden Links Lodge in Winnipeg on February 9, 2010 Betty was born in Winnipeg on November 18, 1921, the seventh and last remaining of ten children born to Florence (nee Matthews) and Kenneth Stewart. She was predeceased by her loving husband Norman Austin of 55 years in 1997. Betty is survived by her daughter Patricia Reid (Garry), their children Christopher (Brenda) and Marni Manchulenko (Robert), and her son Leslie (Linda), their children Philip (Jai-Lynne) and Scott (fiancé Jodi Lukey). and great-granddaughters Makenna and Avery. Betty worked at Robin Hood Flour Mills during the war years and then took time off to raise her two children. She returned to work at Furnace man Metal and then Industrial Ventilation Contractors (IVC) where she retired after 22 years of faithful service. Betty loved gardening at the cottage in the Whiteshell, and enjoyed her hobbies of petit point, puzzles and knitting. The family are very grateful to the staff at Golden Links Lodge for their dedication to providing care with dignity and respect. Mom's life was richer for that. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2, or the Golden Links Nursing Home at 2280 St. Mary's Road, R2N 3Z6. What will the pathologists find? Plaques and tangles of course, things which have destroyed the normal functioning of the one I love. They will not find what we have lost. Burton M.
