Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELMER WOWRYK December 9, 1922 February 5, 2010 Very peacefully, at the Holy Family Nursing Home on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the age of 87 years, Elmer was reunited with his beloved late wife Jean (1996). Dad will be greatly missed by his children, Judy (Jim) Sims, Jerry (Maggie), and Jeff (Debbie). Dear grandpa to Bryan (Rena), Cyndie (Matt), Adam, and Amanda. Proud and loving great-grandpa to Noah. Elmer was born on the family farm in the district of Shoal Lake, Manitoba and was the seventh of 21 children. He had many fond memories of his early years and was never alone or lonely. Moving to Winnipeg he worked at several jobs before obtaining employment with the CPR as a waiter on the Dining Car in 1944. He married Jean (Herchak) in 1947. During his years with the CPR and later with VIA, Elmer became a steward and travelled across Canada and the US. He told many interesting and very funny stories about his travels and experiences. In 1984 he retired from the railway, and moved in with his daughter Judy (Jim) in 2001. Elmer enjoyed attending the Lions Manor Adult Day Program until due to his health it was necessary for him to move to the Holy Family Nursing Home. Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Service on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 1:00 p.m., in Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. The family extends sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff at the Holy Family Nursing Home for the loving care Elmer received. In the last difficult month, the staff of the 5th floor extended their love and care not only to Elmer but to the family as well and there are no words that can express our gratitude.
