LAWRIE ALEXANDER MARCHYLO May 28, 1929 - February 16, 2010 On February 16, 2010, with his loving family by his side and after a short battle with Cancer, it is with very deep sorrow we announce the passing of our dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather at the Victoria General Hospital. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife and very best friend Nancy (Ritchie) of almost 61 years, and his three loving children, one son Dr. Brian Marchylo (Jan) his two daughters, Brenda Huntington (Paul) and Laurel Marchylo. Grandpa will be so sadly missed by his six devoted grandchildren, Andrea (Warren) and Craig; Stephen and Kaitlyn; and Brooke (Kevin) and Derrick. Also missing their great-grandfather is young Dylan and Dominic. Lawrie was predeceased by his father Joseph in 1965, his only sister Julie in 1990 and his mother Eva in 1994. Lawrie was born and grew up in Winnipeg, He attended King Edward and Isaac Newton schools. Lawrie was employed with the Canadian National Railway for 37 years and held various positions, retiring as Administrative Assistant of the Purchases and Materials Management Department in 1984. Lawrie enjoyed his many years as a member of King Edward Masonic Lodge #93 and served as Past Master of the Lodge. As well as being a devoted family man Lawrie was inseparable from his two English Springer Spaniels Duchess and Kyra and enjoyed many hours hunting with them. He also enjoyed building bird houses for his feathery friends. The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and support staff for their compassionate care during Lawrie's stay at the Victoria General Hospital. In accordance with Lawrie's wishes, a private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may donate to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.
