MERVYN ARGUE SCOTT Mervyn Argue Scott passed away peacefully on February 18, 2010, at the age of 89 years, with family by his side at the Stonewall Hospital. Mervyn was predeceased by his first wife Betty in 1964, second wife Mary in 2005, brothers Melvin, Earl, and Russell, and sister Milly. Mervyn is survived by son Lynden (Linda), grandchildren Jeannie, Kevin (Lacey); son Dennis (Diane), grandchildren Tim, Derek, Aimee; great-grandsons Zak, Odin; stepson Carl and Alice Nieman and family; stepdaughter Sharon Pedler; brother Tom (Irene), brother-in-law Bill Sailor, and numerous nieces and nephews. Merv was the 123rd man to enlist with the Winnipeg Grenadiers and was discharged May of 1940. He re-enlisted with Lord Strathcona Horse and served four and one half years in North Africa, Italy and across Europe. Merv married Betty Johnston of Stephenfield on August 14, 1941 and started farming in Stephenfield. They had two sons Lynden (1947) and Dennis (1949), the family moved to Narcisse in April of 1950. Mervyn showed heavy draft horses for 34 years. He retired to Dennis' farm in November of 1979 and moved to Stonewood in December 2007. A sincere and heartfelt thanks to all homecare staff for their wonderful care and thoughtfulness in the past few months. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 22 at 1:30 p.m. at the New Life Church, Stonewall. Dr. Henry Ozirney will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southwest District Palliative Care. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
