JOHN JOSEPH MATTHEWS May 24, 1944 - February 16, 2010 John passed away with the love of his wife and daughter by his side, following a very courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory, his loving wife Elaine; daughter Tracey (Darren Ostenberg); and his two grandchildren, Riley and Kaylee. John was predeceased by his parents, Percy and Hilda Matthews. For the last 25 years John enjoyed the open road, driving for both Atomic and Penner International. In his spare time you could find him at the rink playing hockey or with his friends fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be He put His arms around you And said Come unto Me. A special thanks to Dr. Ginerich and all the CancerCare nurses at St. Boniface and to all the palliative nurses especially Mary Ann. A special thank you to Dorothy, the Chaplain at Riverview Health Centre for her love and support. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A private family inurnment will follow.
