DAVID EYOLFSON September 12, 1934 - January 30, 2010 Dave died peacefully at the Langley Gardens Care Home, after many years with Parkinson's disease and then Alzheimer's Disease. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 51 years, Gloria Eyolfson of Langley, daughters Sally Tisiga (Art) of Whitehorse and Lorna VanStraaten (Brian) of Whistler, sons Tim Eyolfson (Leah) of Maple Ridge and Rob Eyolfson (Susan) of Burnaby. He will also be missed by his five grandchildren, Joseph and Jess Tisiga, Taylor and Jade Eyolfson, Sierra VanStraaten, and one great-grandchild, Edera Tisiga-Rudge. In addition, he will be missed by sister-in-law Peggy Vantine of Ashcroft, brother-in-law Don Federspiel (Brenda) of Vernon, sister Shirley Gibson (Jim) of North Van, his three brothers from Lundar, Manitoba, Lorne Eyolfson, Fred Eyolfson (Betty) and Bill Eyolfson (Evelyn) as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins on both sides of the family. Dave was born and raised in Lundar, Manitoba. After leaving home he worked in the office for Northern Construction Co. for many years, living in locations across Western Canada. He married Gloria in 1958. They moved to the Vancouver Area in 1970 where Dave worked for BC Tel for 25 years beginning as a Computer Programmer and Analyst. He worked first at the downtown offices and later at The Boot in Burnaby where he made many friends before taking early retirement in 1993. During his working years Dave lived in Port Coquitlam and Burnaby but retired to Langley. Dave was adventuresome and loved to travel. Dave and Gloria enjoyed many years of boating and fishing, and many years of travelling. Memorable trips for Dave included Hawaii, Mexico, Australia and Europe. Together Dave and Gloria travelled across the US and Canada in their RV and for over ten years they spent their winters in California and Arizona. Those who knew Dave will remember his passion for golf, especially those days at the Newlands Golf Course with his buddies. The family would like to express great appreciation to the staff of Langley Gardens for the good care he received during his seven months there. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clubhouse at the CedarCrest Townhouse Complex, 21848 50th Ave., Langley, BC. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer's Society, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
