Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLESLIE JAMES EDWARD LINK Stands with Abalone Shell September 27, 1946 - February 14, 2010 It is with great sadness and heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our brother, Leslie at the Health Sciences Centre on February 14, 2010. Leslie was born at home in Hodgson, Manitoba and was blessed by a loving family of eight sisters and three brothers. Leslie was the eighth child born to Mary (nee Thomas) and George Link. He will be lovingly remembered by his eight sisters Shirley Weibel, Joyce Kelly (John), Darlene Normandin (Yves), Laura Sutherland (Dale), Marion Link, Doris Leclair (Gordon Paulsen), Alice Lowe (Robert), Debbie Link; his three brothers, George Link Jr. (Evelyn), Robert Link (Susan), Louis Link; also left to cherish his memory are his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Mary and George Link Sr., sister Linda Link, nephew Jason Sume, brother-in-law Jack Weibel and close friend Mary Chapin. Leslie always a free spirit left home at the age of sixteen to venture to Montreal where he became a part of the international dance company Le Groupe de la Place Royale . Through his involvement with this dance troupe Leslie toured Europe and North America. At the age of twenty-one Leslie joined the renowned Paula Ross Dance Troupe in Vancouver and became one of the company's principal dancers. Leslie later opened his own dance studio where he passionately trained both young and old in the art of dance. He taught dance in Vancouver, in Toronto and at the University of Manitoba. He retired from dancing in 1985 and established a clothing boutique The Moveable Feast in False Creek, Vancouver. At the age of thirty-three Leslie followed the footsteps of Bill W. and entered into a life of sobriety and recovery. This journey led him back to his family in Winnipeg and to a life-long commitment to the fellowship of A.A. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference. In partnership with owners Alice and Robert Lowe, he became a strong influence in the development of Ekota Lodge, a medical receiving home in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He accepted the position of Assistant Manager of Ekota Lodge in January 2000 where he made strong connections to the clients and staff. Leslie was an integral part of the success of Ekota Lodge and he took great pride in helping the Aboriginal people of Manitoba and Ontario. Leslie, a man with a remarkable spirit, kept a close relationship with his Creator through prayer, meditation and service. His council and guidance was sought from all who were lost and seeking spiritual renewal. Our sage' will be sorrowfully missed. Prayer vigil and visitation will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 7:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. at the Circle of Life Thunderbird House, 715 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. I have been thinking about Leslie, who was a friend and colleague and looked him up. I had no idea he had passed away. He will be deeply missed. I quote him often to my students I guess his spirit was speaking to me. - Posted by: Janet Feindel (Friend) on: Feb 10, 2013
