JOHN FRANCIS ENGLISH John Francis English, born in Winnipeg, July 2, 1922, passed away in Pompano Beach, Florida on February 24, 2010. John was the fifth of eight children born to William and Stella English and lived most of his life in the U.S. John was a devout Roman Catholic and loved music. After graduating from the University of Manitoba, John served two years in the RCAF, following which he studied opera at The Juilliard School in New York and then in Milan, Italy. Married since 1952 to Eileen O'Connell English of Winnipeg, John was a high school teacher in New Jersey until 1982, when he and Eileen retired to Florida. John had many lifelong friends and was much loved for his great wit and humour. He will be remembered by many as one of the great players on the St. Paul's High School Crusaders football team. John is survived by his wife, Eileen, sister-in-law Peggy O'Connell Casey and brother-in-law Jack Casey of Pompano Beach, two sisters, Eileen and Margaret, of Winnipeg, nieces Katherine and Margaret, nephew James, grand-nieces Krystyna and Colleen, grand-nephew Kevin, great-grand-niece Radhika, and many cousins across Canada and Belgium. A funeral service will be held in Pompano Beach on Tuesday, March 2. Arrangements made by Baird Case Jordan Fannin Funeral Home of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
