VERA (SHAW) DUNNING April 11, 1918 - February 26, 2010 Vera Dunning of Arborg, MB, formerly of McCreary, MB, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Arborg Hospital. She is survived by her daughter Roberta (Marvin) Magnusson; grandsons, Aaron (Crystal), Shawn (Della); great-granddaughters, Bailey, Alexis, Olivia and Julie; sister-in-law Jeanette Dunning of Red Deer, AB, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband David; two infant daughters; her parents, Elizabeth and George Shaw; brothers, John, Thomas, William; sisters, Jane, Mary, Ellen and Lillian. Mom was born in Cockfield, England and came to Canada with her family in 1928. They spent their first year at Old Barkfield then moved to Norgate. She attended Norgate School, met Dad, got married and moved two miles east to Turtle Plains where they lived until they retired to Brandon in 1990. In 1998 they moved to Arborg. Mom was really a Jill of all trades and wasn't afraid to tackle any obstacle she came up against. She was Dad's partner on the farm in the true sense of the word, cultivating or feeding the threshing crew, building the house or growing a huge garden. For Mom her home and family were everything. She also found time to board teachers and add foster children to the family. She had an artistic flare, enjoyed singing, dancing and writing poetry. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of the Arborg Personal Care Home for their loving care and respect for Mom during her stay there. Prayers will be held Monday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, MB, with Pastor Jaycen Snider officiating. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 2 at 12:00 noon in the McCreary Gospel Church, McCreary, MB with Pastor Roger Woywoda officiating, Viewing at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Kelwood Cemetery.
