LANCE ANGUS KENNEDY March 4, 1940 - February 25, 2010 Lance Kennedy passed away suddenly at home on February 25, 2010 at the age of 69. He is survived by his loving wife Karen, his daughters Sage and Brook, their mother Wilma, his grandchildren Tai and Rowyn, his brothers Grant and Don, his sister Jean, his sisters-in-law Kathleen, Doris, Geri and Linda, brother-in-law Howie, his many nieces and nephews and his treasured friend of 45 years Wayne Johnson along with godsons Lance, Derek and David Johnson. Lance was one of those rare individuals who lived his life on his own terms never straying from his own internal moral compass. He was a man of utmost integrity and honour with a wicked sense of humour. He was a gentleman and a gentle man. In his semi-retirement from a career as a Professional Engineer and Geophysicist, Lance became the go-to engineer for RM's throughout the Interlake. His sense of community was strong, and he fully committed himself to his duties as a Councilor for the RM of St. Laurent. Until arthritis weakened his hands, he was also a gifted artist in wood. For many friends and family, Lance was the first call you made when you needed advice, a sounding board or a shoulder. He was a loyal and kind friend and a beloved member of his own family, his in-law family and his adoptive Oak Point family. All will treasure his legacy of kindness, wisdom, love and laughter. Lance will be sorely missed by all those he left behind and especially by his wife Karen. In their 30 years together Karen and Lance never doubted for a moment they were the loves of each other's lives and that love will continue to sustain her. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place and a service honouring the life of Lance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Oak Point Community Club with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Service will conclude at the hall. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOME Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072 1-866-323-3593

  • Hi Karen, just wanted to say how sad this news made me feel. I wanted you to "hear from me" as a very close friend and working buddy...but it has to be this way "in writing" for now... You take care of yourself Karen, my heart and prayers go out to you and your family........tom - Posted by: Tom Moore (Family) on: Mar 03, 2010

  • He was a rare individual. He had his own truth and sense of self. He loved most people, and because of that he was filled with a joy and celebration of others. His talk was always filled with the stories of how wonderfully entertaining his friends were. His love for Karen was ever present in his gratitude for how beautiful his life had become with her by his side. For many years he helped bring me up. He lifted us to his side and showed us how enchanting life could be. I will always admire you Lance. - Posted by: Shane Kennedy (Family) on: Mar 02, 2010
