Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRENCE (LAURIE) BREHAUT FRASER August 29, 1925 - February 26, 2010 It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Laurie Fraser, who slipped away from us on February 26, 2010 at his home in Winnipeg. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Maybelle, who shared her life with him for almost 60 years, and sons Larry (Cathy), Bruce (Trish), daughter Pat (Roger) and grandchildren Jeff (fiancé Melissa), Scott, Meghan, Heather (fiancé Chris), Colleen, Leigh, Pam (Randy) and great-grandchildren Morgan, Laurie, Kelsey, Emily and Madelyn. Laurie is also survived by his brother Ronald (Irene), sister Jacquie and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Laurie was predeceased by his parents Laura and Norman and sisters Rhoda and Ruth. Laurie was born in Virden, Manitoba and later moved to Vivian, Manitoba. Growing up in the Depression years, he quickly learned the value of hard work. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the Navy R. C. N. V. R. as an AB Seaman and served in Bermuda during the Second World War. Upon returning home, employment opportunities drew Laurie to Winnipeg. He spent 3l years with the City of Winnipeg, retiring as the Superintendent of Traffic Services in 1982. Dad loved to work with his hands. He had a passion for fixing things, woodworking, model airplanes and restoring antique cars. He enjoyed reading, crosswords and RV'ing and we have many great memories of vacations with family and friends. He had a great sense of fun and made us laugh with stories of good times with friends and family over the years. His family and grandkids were most special to him and he instilled in us all his lifelong love of learning and his unwavering optimism. His was a long life well lived. At Laurie's request, there will be no formal funeral. His family will celebrate his life with a private service. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or a charity of your choice. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
