PAUL MAURICE MARTEL (PUTPUT) April 2, 1935- February 14, 2010 It is with sadness our beloved husband, father and grandfather Paul, passed away at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody, BC. Left to cherish Paul's memory are his wife Darlene (nee Carthy); daughters, Nicole Woelcke (Gerald) and Colette Martel (Alan Macdonald); grandchildren, Tayler and Alexa Woelcke, Liam and Megan Macdonald. He is survived by his sister Juliette Perron; brother Andre Martel (Noella) of BC; sisters-in-law Rita Martel and Florence Martel; as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Paul was predeceased by his mother Oliva and father Eugene; his brothers, Romeo, Lucien and Armand; his sister Dora Ludwig and brother-in-law Bernard Perron. Paul retired from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in 1991. At the time of his retirement Paul was performing his dream job as a Business Manager for CBC Network Sports. Paul's passion in life was his family. He particularly loved being with his grandchildren and spent many happy days with them at his pool. But Paul also loved sports, particularly baseball and hockey. He often reminisced about playing for the Norwood Giants and loved telling stories about his hockey days - most often as a team member of the Nottingham Panthers in England. Paul was an active member in his community. As a Past Grand Knight of the Windsor Park Knights of Columbus, he was nicknamed the spirit of Windsor Park . He was a Past President of CUPE - Winnipeg local and the Winnipeg Chapter of both the CBC Pensioners and CBC Managers Associations. Paul also acted as a School Trustee for the St. Boniface School Division. Paul's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Eagle Ridge Hospital and Ridge Meadows Hospital, who helped to make his last weeks as comfortable as possible. In keeping with Paul's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, March 5 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. When love has touched our lives, it remains forever in our hearts. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Paul's memory to either the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society of Canada. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J.
