DON SARGENT Surrounded by his family, Don passed away on Sunday afternoon, February 28, 2010 at the St. Boniface Hospital, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. His memory will be forever cherished by his lovely and devoted wife Joey ( Jo ) of 48 years; daughters Kim (Steven and Cole), Pam (Kevin, Curtis and Bryan), Nancy (Rich, Eric, Evan and Ella), Cher (Ryan); son Jason (Krista, Drew and Owen), daughter-in-law Corrie (Abby) and sister Marg. Don was predeceased by his son Scott, granddaughter Alexis and brother Kerry. Steeltown Ford is Don's legacy. It started in 1979 on Main Street in Selkirk with ten employees. He has taught his staff everything he knows, preparing for this day. Steeltown will continue to operate as one big family, the way Don built it. Steeltown is the successful business today because of the dedication and determination of our dad . In 1997 he built his dream state of the art dealership with now 40 employees. Don had a passion for all motor sports. Boating, snowmobiling, fast cars, and motorcycles. His Harley was his favourite, and he enjoyed many cross country tours with Joey and their friends Cathy and Glen Cross. The True Love of Don's life was his family. Love for his family and keeping it strong came first. Don cherished the family time spent together at the cabin, fishing, boating, sailing and snowmobiling. Many family ski trips were enjoyed, especially by his grandchildren. We loved Don dearly, he was a good man with a huge heart. He was a generous, kind, and honest role model. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. Having Don in our lives has made the world a better place. He will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Church, 6088 Hwy. 9A (just south of Manitoba Rolling Mills). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Selkirk and District General Hospital New Building Fund, Box 5000, Selkirk, MB, R1A 2M2. Thank you to Dr. Demsas and Dr. Johnston for so many years of care. Everyone at Selkirk General Hospital, you were like family to Don. To all the Surgeons, Doctors, Nurses and staff in the ICU and on 7 West at St. Boniface Hospital, there are no words to express our gratitude.
