LEO LOUIS LYLE CAMIRAND It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Leo L. Camirand on Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 58 years. He was predeceased by his parents Ann and Gaston Camirand. His memory will be cherished by his wife and soulmate Bonnie, daughter, Sherry and husband Neil, granddaughter Vanessa, son Leo Justin and Courtney Andrysiak, brother Gaston and wife Shirley Camirand, nephew Leon and wife Nicole (Brenda and Marshall), and trusting friend, his Golden Retriever Lacey. Leo was born on July 8, 1951 in Fort Frances, ON. In growing up he enjoyed his summers at the family cabin in Rice Bay, ON and winters playing midget and minor hockey, which led him to the M.V.P. goalie for the Fort Frances Muskies. On his completion of high school, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces where he served as a radar and communications technician for two years. On August 30, 1972 he married the love of his life Bonnie Stokes in Thunder Bay, ON. September of 1974, he moved to Winnipeg and became a Journeyman Electrician where he worked construction, Griffin Steel and Pauline Chambers. For the past 23 years he has been the Head Electrician H.V.A.C. for Louis Riel (St. Boniface) School Division where he made countless numbers of friends. Leo loved being a grandpa, woodworking, sports, Christmas, Black Forest Cake at Baked Expectations with his friends, Rushing River, The WSO, and his favourite flower, The Red Rose. Despite health related struggles, Leo maintained optimism using his trademark smiley face whenever possible. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the King Church, 847 St. Mary's Rd. Interment will follow in Christ the Redeemer at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A gathering of family and friends will follow at Glen Lawn Reception Centre. Leo's family would like to extend profound appreciation to Dr. James Johnston, Nurse Erin Elphie, everyone in the Cancer Care Treatment Room, Pharmacy and Lab. You are all angels of hope, love and compassion. If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Leo to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 9Z9. Dear Bonnie and family. I am away on holidays but was deeply saddened to hear that Leo passed away. I will fondly remember the chats we had in "the principal"s office" talking about his family, his dog, travel, my MGB sports car, while enjoying a good cup of coffee. I remember a time where I really needed some electrical work done in my school and I asked him what I could offer in gratitude. The reply "Black Forest Cake" from BE. He was a kind gentle man with a big heart and I will miss him as a friend. - Posted by: raymond @ leslye poirier (Friend) on: Mar 04, 2010
