JOSEPH ALBERT SMITH
Born: May 24, 1933
Date of Passing: Feb 27, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH ALBERT SMITH Peacefully and with great courage, surrounded by the love of his children, Joseph Albert Smith passed away February 27, 2010. Joe will be forever missed and remembered by his children, Linda (Bill) Plouffe, Kerri (Kim) Smith-Young, Delaine, Kevin and Reyner. Grandpa Joe will also be sadly missed by his granddaughters Kelsi and Shea Smith-Young and Emerson Smith. Dad was predeceased by parents James and Hilda Smith and brothers, George, James and Robert and by wife Margaret. Joe was born May 24, 1933 and grew up on the family acreage in Fort Whyte, MB. He excelled at baseball and hockey and was an avid hunter and fisherman who passed this passion on to his sons. Some of Dad's best memories were of his numerous hunting trips to Broad Valley and Deloraine and of the time he spent at his beloved fishing camp on the Gammon River. Dad was also an excellent cook and even the simplest meals were not without his gourmet touches. We will especially miss his Christmas dinners and the world's best stuffing. Joe spent many years working in the hospitality industry, first with the Gordon Hotel chain and ending his career as General Manager of Place Louis Riel Suite Hotel. His later years were spent doing the things he loved, gardening, hunting, fishing and just being Joe. The family would like to thank Dr. Permack and all the nurses on the 4th floor at the Victoria Hospital, especially Edith, who could take Dad's sarcasm and deal it right back. As per Dad's wishes there will be no formal service, but a gathering of family and friends will take place at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined, but donations in Dad's memory would be welcome, made to the Manitoba Wildlife Federation or a charity of one's choice. Hey, where's Joe? Of course... He's Gone Fishing

I miss you dad & think about you often. I look @ the picture of Emerson & you all the time. It's up in the kitchen of course, you're favorite place. Love Delaine & Emmy. Actually Emmy said to me tonight that you were going to pick her up tomorrow from daycare. She remembers you! - Posted by: Delaine Smith (daughter) on: Apr 11, 2012
