MARJORIE DOREEN BARCLAY (nee GUNNER) April 24, 1922 - February 17, 2010 Marjorie was born and raised in Winnipeg. She graduated in 1939 from St John's Technical where she excelled in mathematics, volleyball and track. She anchored the school hurdle team to a provincial record. After graduation she attended Success-Angus Business College on a basketball scholarship. She married Daniel Barclay in 1943. In 1947 they moved to Victoria and opened a small antique shop on Humboldt Street. Later, she worked at the juvenile detention centre and for many years was an employee of Eaton's. While raising her family, she taught Sunday School at Emmanuel Baptist Church, and was a Girl Guide Leader. She instilled in her family her love of camping and travel. She particularly enjoyed her trips to England to see the home of her father and grandparents. Marjorie was predeceased by her son Larry; parents, Dorothy (Halford) and Clifford Gunner; brother Frank; sister Phyllis (Bell); and grandparents, Henry and Mary Gunner of Bexleyheath Kent, England and George and Harriet Halford. She is survived by her husband Daniel; brother Richard Gunner; son Andrew; daughter Janet (Michael); daughter-in-law Annette; as well as her grandchildren whom she dearly loved and was so proud of: Brooke, Paul, David, Scott (Wilson) and Megan (Wilson).
