KAREN MILLS It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our dearest Mom and Grandma, Karen Mills on Thursday, March 4, 2010. At the age of 63, Mom passed away in her sleep at her home in Winnipeg, MB. Mom was born in Fleming, SK on July 19, 1946 to Albert and Hendrika Johanna Mills and moved with her parents to Europe, where she grew up in Den Haag, Holland. In her adult life she moved back to Canada and resided in many places throughout Manitoba eventually settling down with her kids in beautiful Gimli, MB. Mom worked for Evergreen Basic Needs for many years and made many close friends in her time there. Her job there reflects the type of person she was, she always wanted to help someone. The volunteers she worked with and her friends and neighbours meant the world to her and will always be in our hearts as they took great care of her when she became ill. Mom is survived by ex-husband and dear friend Jake Froese, her children, Peter Van Ettinger (Michael) of Germany, Debbie Van Ettinger of Winnipeg, Richard Korving (Linda) of Winnipeg, Jason Froese (Christine) of Winnipeg and Kristie Keryluk (Trent) of Selkirk. Her loving grandchildren in which she cherished, Candace (22), Jessica (ten), Justice (eight), Hailey (six), Kiandra (six), Talia (three) and her newest addition Keira (four months); Mom's brothers, Hendrik Mills (Myrtle), Paul Mills, Richard Mills, Butch Mills and many nieces and nephews. As well, Mom leaves behind numerous friends who she also considered family including Linda McAteer who has been her closest and dearest friend for many years. Mom only had thoughts for her children and cherished her grandchildren; she loved them very much and talked about them all the time to her friends and anyone who would listen. She is now an Angel watching over us, we will miss her very, very much. We all love you Mom, you will always be in our hearts and thoughts. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday March 10, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Gimli, MB at Gilbart Funeral Home. Our family would like to thank the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, the Winnipeg Police Service, the Medical Examiner's Office and Gilbart Funeral Home for their kindness and compassion in this time of loss. We would also like to thank TenTen Sinclair Housing Inc. and the many friends she made there for the wonderful care that Mom received before her passing. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation to help support her newest Angel's fight for her life while waiting for a liver transplant. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
