A loving and respected husband of Janice, father of son Ted Junior of Winnipeg and daughter Karen of North Vancouver. Ted was a social person, a loving generous and caring man, a man who opened his home to many over the years helping them to achieve their goals in life. He will be missed by everyone he had contact with. His best friend Benji our Bichon is also grieving the loss of his Daddy and was a frequent hospital visitor to cheer Dad up. In warm weather Ted could be seen walking Benji down Edgewater Dr. in Southdale, where he enjoyed living for 35 years. In December 2009 he moved to Red Moon Rd. in Sage Creek area of St. Boniface, where he resided comfortably until he could no longer manage community living. Born to Effie and John Semeniuk in Winnipeg Ted was a middle child and the only son in the family with three sisters. Ted always led his life to the fullest and his zest for life was unmatched by many his own age. His love of hockey, which he played until 67 years of age (International Hockey in Europe; Troy Ohio; Southdale Old Timers etc.) and his work in pharmacy took him on many treasured adventures over his lifetime. Practicing pharmacy he worked as a Medical Sales Rep; a hospital pharmacist; then after 30 years and retiring from the Health Sciences Hospital he established his own company Pharmacist On Call and began to work contract positions frequently flying up north to Norway House; Rankin Inlet; Churchill; lastly settling in Winnipeg at the Medicine Shoppe in St. James and Zellers River East Pharmacy where he worked until March 2009. He was particularly proud of achieving a career that spanned 50 years of pharmacy in 2009. Ted was involved with many social agencies over the years: SERC Mount Carmel Clinic; Good Neighborhood Service Centre to name but a few. He was also a member of Manitoba Prostate Cancer Group and regularly attended their monthly meetings. Ted grew up with strong family bonds and was proud of his Ukrainian heritage learning as a child the values of hard work, thrift and friendship. He touched many hearts with his sharp humour and his willingness to share his pharmacy knowledge with friends and strangers alike. Ted will go on living in the hearts and minds of all who knew him. There will always be a sadness and often a silent tear shed for him but wonderful memories will keep him near. Goodbye my precious Prince from your beloved Princess. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • My Uncle Teddy was a very loving and kind man. He welcomed me into his home when my life circumstances required nurturing. In his home, with the help of Janice, his devoted wife, my Uncle Teddy helped me to restore my inner self. I laughed again and I saw the world anew. I last saw my Uncle Teddy in 2008. He came to my wedding in Chicago. I appreciated his long trek from Winnipeg. I believe my Uncle Teddy is in Heaven. He was a great human being. Earth needs more people like him. - Posted by: Orisha Kulick (Niece) on: Oct 06, 2020

  • I'm from a small Nunavut town called Chesterfield Inlet and I moved to the big city of Rankin Inlet Nu, I was new to a new fast paced environment and found myself behind the counter with many pills and old white man who took off he's pharmacist jacket and said here put this on. I said I can't he laugh and said it's just a jacket! The next couple of years we shared tea and hockey conversation if there was a blizzard day we'd sit and have a drink and laugh. I've never met a man who didn't see anything but good in people so patient and kind. Whenever I start to lose patient, I think about a man who did this so easily in a sometimes hectic place. To him who could turn on a dime on ice! - Posted by: Iguptaq Autut (Collage) on: Aug 24, 2016

  • Ted could put a smile on anyone's face in the pharmacy with his compassion and empathy. I thank you Ted for all that you have done. - Posted by: Alan W. Genik (worked with Ted in pharmacy) on: Feb 09, 2015

  • They say memories are golden, well maybe that is true. I never wanted memories, I only wanted you. My heart aches in sadness, a million times I cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life I loved you dearly, in death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place no one can fill. If tears could build a stairway and memories make a lane, I would walk the path to Heaven to bring you home again. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, But as God calls us, our chain will link again. - Posted by: Karen Katz (Family) on: Mar 13, 2010

  • Dad, You have given me everything a daughter could ask for. I really had it all with you in my life. We had a special relationship, one that I will treasure forever. You always supported me whole heartedly in my decisions in life and you were always by my side. You taught me so many things and had it not been for your love, guidance, inspiration, and stength I would not be where I am today. I will hold all of my memories of you deep within my heart. I am so proud of being your daughter. Love Karen - Posted by: Karen Katz (Family) on: Mar 13, 2010
