Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD HENRY LAZARENKO May 23, 1945 - March 10, 2010 To our deepest sorrow Richard succumbed to complications from Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis and a blood disorder at Selkirk General Hospital on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. Richard was born and raised in Winnipeg. His career began at MidWest Airlines and TransAir, he then worked alongside his father and brother in the family businesses where he worked tirelessly to continue the success of the companies. He enjoyed life to the fullest, thought the best of everyone, and always had a kind word to share or story to tell. He particularly enjoyed winter vacations in Palm Springs and Maui, reading a book by his backyard pool or sunning on the beach at Hecla Island. He was a member of the Khartum Shriners and Lisgar Lodge #2. Richard's kind and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of his loving family; his wife and love of his life, Mary-Louise, daughter Audra (Trent) Goodbrandson, son Derek (Denise), daughter Carrie (Owen), and son Graham (Kim) Simpson. He was Afi to Sydney, Taylor, Nathan, Andrea, Curtis, Austin, Justin and Ainsley. He will also be missed by brothers and sisters-in-law Edward and Irene Dear, Barry and Caroline Dear, Laurie and Sherisse Dear, and many nieces, nephews and loyal friends. He was predeceased by his parents May and Peter and his older brother Phil. A special thank you to Dr. Demsas and the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital for the excellent care given to Richard. Extra special thanks to Megan and the staff on the medical ward. A thank you also, to Dr. Jack Lezack, Dr. Y. Lau and Dr. Vincent Taraska for their great care over the years. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Richard's Life will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 15, 6088 PTH Main Street, Selkirk, MB, with Pastor Terri-Ann Mattiasson officiating. Should friends desire donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting Until the very end. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered, Come to me . So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back To suffer that again. You didn't deserve what you went through, So He took you home to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, For He only takes the best. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
