GEORGE ROBERTSON FRASER Passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital on Friday, March 12, 2010. George Robertson Fraser in his 92nd year. Beloved husband for 62 years of the late Mary Catherine Irene Fraser (McLean) and loving father of Doris Fraser of Owen Sound and Norman Fraser and his wife Elaine of Ottawa. Proud grandfather of Brian Fraser, Deirdre Fraser and Iris Fraser of Toronto. Survived by his brothers, Harold Fraser and his wife Barbara of Vancouver and Stanley Fraser and his wife Carol of Winnipeg. George was the fourth of six brothers of the late James Moss Fraser and Marie McNutt of Hamiota, Manitoba. He was predeceased by brothers, Don, Clarence, Arthur and Mac. George attended the University of Manitoba where he met his lifelong wife of 62 years. After serving in the R.C.A.F., 420 Squadron Snowy Owl in the Second World War, George returned to Canada and married his bride, Mary, on May 3, 1945 in Winnipeg and celebrated their honeymoon in Niagara Falls at the time of V.E. Day. The young couple settled in Winnipeg, Regina and Saskatoon and then back to Winnipeg where they raised their children. George and Mary's later years were spent in Toronto and finally in Simcoe where they enjoyed their retirement hosting many family and friends. George, the Second World War Veteran, prairie boy with feet firmly planted, a zip for life and a love of camaraderie. Our world is a lesser place with your departure. The family will receive friends to share their memories of George at THE BALDOCK FUNERAL HOME, 96 Norfolk St. N., Simcoe, ON on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. where the funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Cremation with interment in Manitoba at a later date.
