GARTH ANTHONY HRUDEN After a brief, but phenomenally intense battle, Garth Anthony Hruden has found peace. On March 13, 2010, Garth said goodbye to his family at St. Boniface Hospital. As he reunites with his sister Shaun Brosseau (nee Hruden) and his father Stephen Hruden, he leaves behind his mother, Thelma Hruden; his brother Kim Hruden; his children, Kristopher, Rebecca and Spencer Hruden; the mother of his children Wilma and stepson Kyle (Susan); as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. He will also be missed by his closest friends and neighbours, Al and Ronnie and his cats, Garfield and Katie. Garth worked for many years at the Rolling Mill in Selkirk. He had planned to travel to Egypt when he retired. In his spare time he enjoyed renovating his home and his yard. As his projects were reaching completion he could relax and spend more time in his garden or around a bonfire with the kids. In the winter months he enjoyed building his ice castles. Come the summer months, if you sit quietly in the garden, you might hear that incredibly crisp melodic whistle that floated through the air when he was content and satisfied with his work. His job is done. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with viewing one hour prior. Cremation will follow with interment to follow in the St. Clements Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Special thanks to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
