STANLEY BARTMANOVICH Peacefully on March 15, 2010 Stanley passed away at the age of 82 at his home in Golden Links Lodge in Winnipeg. Stanley was predeceased by his wife Edna in 1990. He is survived by his four children: David (Joan), Dennis (Cheryl), Paul (Sharon), Charlene McCrea (Ken) and four grandchildren, Brent (Sarah), Tracy (Michael), Christopher and Nicholas. He also leaves three brothers, Bernard (Janet), Adam (Lil) and Richard (Kathryn), and one sister Alice Roseberry. Numerous nieces and nephews also mourn Uncle Stan's passing. Stanley was predeceased by his parents Paul and Pearl and two sisters, Madelene and Agnes. Born in St. Norbert on December 29, 1927 Stanley lived all his life in South Winnipeg. He was raised on the family farm on Red River Drive. Married Edna in 1951 and purchased their first home on Pembina Highway, moving to Fort Richmond in 1963 where he lived until his stroke in 1993. Dad then moved to the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Home in Charleswood and then into Golden Links Lodge in St. Vital where he resided until his passing. Dad loved the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were among some of his greatest pleasures. He earned several master angler awards and awards for deer hunting. He passed on this love to his children and grandchildren. He also taught other children the practice of hunting and hunter's safety while being in charge of the Fort Garry Junior Rifle Club for many years. He was an active parent with the Boy Scouts of Canada, participating in several overnight canoe trips with his sons. Dad was a kind and gentle man whom children were naturally drawn to. His greatest joys were derived from spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. His face lit up whenever he saw them come into a room. Stanley was employed with the Rural Municipality of Fort Garry then the City of Winnipeg for most of his working life. He operated numerous pieces of heavy equipment in his early years and moved onto Streets and Operations until his retirement in 1988 after 36 years of service. Stan and Edna built a cottage at Spruce Sands in 1975 and spent many happy times there with family and friends. In his retirement Stan could often be found sitting in his lawn chair at Arnes or Hnausa piers trying to catch the big one . Despite his debilitating stroke in 1993 Dad enjoyed life. He loved to visit with family and friends outside his home. He looked forward to trips to his cabin especially his annual week long hunting trip every fall. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Mary Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive in Winnipeg, Father Carl Tarnopolski celebrant. To the staff at Golden Links we cannot begin to thank you enough for the loving care you gave our father over the past 13 years. Dad always looked forward to going out but was always happy to go back home . He loved you all because he knew he could depend on you when he needed you. Thank you so very much!
