Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIA RUZZIER Peacefully, in Ottawa, with family by her side, on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at age 86. Beloved wife of Lino and loving mother of Laura. Fought a long illness with dignity and grace. Predeceased by her parents Giuseppe (Josef) and Antonia Rozac, brother Giuseppe and sister Rosina. Born November 16, 1923 in Acquaviva, Istria, Italy (now Rakitovec, Istra, Slovenia), Maria, her husband and daughter arrived in Canada in 1957 from Trieste, Italy, where they had spent 18 months in a refugee camp as displaced persons. She and her husband raised their daughter in Winnipeg and moved to Ottawa in 1999 to be with her. Maria will be lovingly remembered by sisters Emilia in Slovenia and Justina in Croatia, their families, and dear friends in Winnipeg and other parts of Canada. A special thank-you to Maria's caregiver for many years, Gordana Simic, and dear friends, the Alberto DeCecco family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
