JOHN (JACK) DAVID THOMAS CHESTER April 25, 1929 March 14, 2010 It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Jack, on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, MB, at the age of 80 years. Remaining to forever cherish Jack's memory are his partner and friend of 11 years, Bev Gladden (who brought much joy and laughter into his life, then provided needed care as his health failed him); his son Paul (Sheila); daughter Debora (Don); grandchildren, John (Mel); Ryan, Ben, Eric, Adam and Debbie; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving and loyal wife of 49 years of marriage, Joyce (nee Bathie); his 37 years young daughter Gaye; as well as his parents, John and Kathleen (nee Mercer) and sister Kathleen. Jack was a proud and dedicated retired Professional Driver for Petro Canada and was awarded Manitoba's, as well as Canada's Driver of the Year. Possibly most important is he will always be a hero in his children's eyes for the unselfish love, affection and daily care he provided our terminally ill mother during her two year battle with lung cancer. In Jack's life some of his greatest passions and pleasures were hunting, fishing and gardening. All of which, put food on his family's table for many of our growing years. In later years he loved to spend much of his time at his cabin in Buffalo Point where Jack (with great patience) trained deer to eat seeds from his hand and apples from his mouth, (which many didn't believe until they saw). Needless to say his passion for hunting mysteriously disappeared. Some would affectionately say he was part grizzly bear , but we all would agree that Jack was an honest, hard working family man who will truly be missed by friends and family alike. In keeping with Jack's wishes, a private family interment will be held in the spring. WE MISS YOU!
