DAVE JORUNDSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave on March 7, 2010. He died suddenly but peacefully with family by his side at Boswell Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his loyalty, generosity and kindness. He was a wonderful husband and best friend to Sandra for 45 years; a giving and devoted father to Paul (Landys), Mark (Jayne), Dagney (Peter) and Blaine; and an adoring grandfather to Grayden, Marin and Brooke. Predeceased by his father Thorhallur and mother Thorun Isa Jorundson, sister Elva and brother John; Dave will be missed by his sister Janet (Fred), brother Barry (Edith), sister-in-law Evelyn, and many nieces and nephews. As a young man, Dave moved his family from Winnipeg to Neepawa, MB to establish Jorundson's Department Store. Dave was a pillar of the community; dedicating his time to coaching hockey, Chamber of Commerce work, mentoring youth and facilitating Summer Games. Then, what started out as a volunteer effort in politics, turned into a career as a Special Assistant for a Member of Parliament for several years. After politics, Dave moved to Maple Creek, SK where he was a manager of the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration. He retired over five years ago to pursue his life long dream of travelling throughout North America with Sandra and spending winters in Arizona. His joys were his wife, children, grandchildren and playing golf. The family will receive friends at the Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club, 12501 14 Street SW, Calgary on Monday, March 22 at 1:00 p.m. for a memorial service. In memory, donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association at www.lung.ca. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through: rememberingdavej@gmail.com

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I am very saddened by the passing away of Dave. I first met Dave when he was the constituency rep for Charley Mayer and he was based in Neepawa. Dave was a warm, likeable and a good natured person who treated everyone he met with respect and dignity. We became friends and we kept in touch when he moved to Maple Creek and then after his retirement in Alberta. As a friend and co-worker I will never forget Dave. My condolences to the family and his wife Sandra. - Posted by: Erminio Caligiuri (Friend) on: Mar 21, 2010
