HARRY KOSTUIK Peacefully and with the family by his side, on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the age of 81, Harry Kostuik passed away after a short battle with cancer at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Harry was born on November 18, 1928 in the Pulp River District to Andrew and Nellie Kostuik (nee Zalucki). He received his education at Jubilee School and worked on the family farm. On November 14, 1948 at Pulp River, Harry married Kay Sobischanski. They moved to Toronto where they worked in a family restaurant. In 1951, Harry and Kay moved back to Winnipeg where they settled and raised their family. Harry was employed by Peter Babiak in the construction industry and then later by F.W. Sawatsky until his retirement in 1993. Harry along with his wife, were members of Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church for 50 years and served as committee members for 20 years. Surviving is his loving wife, Kay of 61 years; and his children, Arnold (Shirley), Saskatoon, Marilyn (Noel), Adelaide, South Australia, David (Sue), Winnipeg. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Trupish of Kelowna, BC, along with five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff on the 3rd Floor, Unit 4 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 25 at Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church, Logan at Fountain. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 26, also at the Church with Fr. I. Dziadyk, OSBM officiating. Interment will be held at Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB. We love you Dad, Gido and will miss you dearly.
