Born: Aug 05, 1955
Date of Passing: Mar 15, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDALE JASSON It is with deep sadness we announce the passing, from a sudden accident, of our friend and brother on March 15, 2010. Born on August 5, 1955 in Melville, SK, Dale grew up in Winnipeg's West End on Valour Road. He attended Clifton, Sargent Park and Daniel McIntyre Schools. As a youth and teenager he was a talented hockey player, playing at Clifton Community Centre. He played on the provincial championships team from Silver Heights Community Centre. He enjoyed his career at C.N. from 1974 to 1998. Dale first worked with bridge and building construction and then realized his prized position as a conductor/switchman. Here he could parlay his competence and efficiency into the enviable quits . His artistic bent was funneled into Superior Sign Services, a company he successfully operated for several years until 1991. Many of his quality sign works still shine brightly throughout the city. Dale later started Hi Rail Demolition. With his can do personality he pretty well single handedly removed the rails and ties from several C.N. lines South of Taylor Avenue. He also dismantled the old C.N. station in Prince Albert. Dale loved being a biker and was particularly proud of his award winning '84 Harley Softail that he personally customized. He looked forward to attending the annual Sturgis Rally and cruising through the Black Hills. Dale had a passion for classic vehicles. He travelled to distant Arkansas, New Mexico and Boston with his trusty '87 Bronco and trailer in tow seeking out the next great treasure. For 15 years Dale resided at his much enjoyed property on Roblin Boulevard just west of Assiniboine Park. He would hold court at the Robin's across the street and allowed all to benefit from his opinionated views. Dale had a horrific auto accident in Fargo in 1998. Defying all odds of recovery, his grit and determination brought him back from a year long semi-coma back to a life of independence. Dale had a great love of animals, especially Akita dogs and always his beloved cats. When snowmobiling down the Assiniboine, he'd be trying to keep up with Conan. He then would always reward his pet pal with something special from Nick's Inn in Headingley. After recovering from the accident Dale acquired Seka, the most gentle Akita imaginable. Very proudly, in his scooter, with Seka leading the way, Dale would pass by the patio bar patrons of Corydon Avenue. Dale was very much looking forward to attending this week's World Of Wheels and Extreme Motorcycle Show. In honour of his memory his two prized Harleys will be on display there. A very unique one of a kind individual Dale was a fiercely independent, determined and passionate man of character. An ingenious sense of humour allowed him to laugh at both the situation at hand and himself. Dale is survived by his four brothers, Tim, Perry, Bruce and Michael, one nephew and three nieces. He is also survived by his Uncle Bob Jasson and Aunt Joan Powell and his best of many friends, Don McGarva and Wayne Thomas. Please join us in a celebration of Dale's life at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave. at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26. Donations in memory of Dale would be appreciated by the Animal Rescue Shelter of your choice. Ride easy friend, you will be missed.
