RONALD (RON) STEPHENSON Ronald (Ron) S. Stephenson, beloved husband of Lois Stephenson, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at the age of 77 years. Along with his loving wife Lois, Ron leaves to cherish his memory two children: Dr. Tracey (Gerry) True of Lake Cowichan, BC and Ann Stephenson of Cowichan Bay, BC; Lois' children and their families: daughters, Roberta and Mickey of Medicine Hat and son, James of Sylvan Lake, AB; brother, Art (Denise) Stephenson of Calgary; mother-in-law, Kaye Backham of Medicine Hat and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Eva Stephenson as well as five siblings. Many will remember that Ron was an avid golf enthusiast. In his younger years, Ron was very active in sports. He played Junior Hockey as well as football, competing for a short time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. He was an Insurance Broker for over 50 years, and after retiring, enjoyed his time spent in the mornings at the Legion playing cards and having coffee with the gang. Family and friends will celebrate Ron's life, without the proceedings of a formal funeral service. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Medicine Hat District Health Foundation, 666 - 5 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4H6.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I was surprised to recently stumble across this obituary of an old friend. I went to St. Johns College School in Winnipeg for many years with Ron and saw him later from time to time. However, I moved to B.C. later and lost track of him. I admired his integrity and ambition in whatever he put his heart into. To all his family, I extend my condolences.
