Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS EVANCHUK January 4, 1925 - March 18, 2010 Peacefully at his Tuxedo Villa home, having reached a full 85 years of age, Thomas passed away on March 18, 2010. Predeceased by his father, mother, and brother Harry and son-in-law George. Thomas is survived by his loving wife Doris of 60 years, his four children Elaine, Jim (Evelyn), Donna (Claude) and Diane (Joseph) eleven grandchildren: Jacquie (Jason), Matthew (Leanne), Neil, Michelle (Omar), Jasmine, Trevor, Anneleise, Shanleigh, Keane, Sean and Caylee one great-granddaughter Avery. Thomas worked for the Canadian National Railway (CNR) out of Winnipeg and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; then with the International Nickel Company in the Copper Cliff smelters near Sudbury, Ontario; and finally, with the Province of Manitoba, as a Power Engineer until he retired in 1988. He enjoyed sports, especially hockey and football, and he was a big fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In his younger years he was an avid golfer and a member of the 100-mile club at the YMCA. We would like to thank Dr. Mark Kristjanson for his exemplary care over the years. Also, to the staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital and the Tuxedo Villa staff for their compassion and care of Thomas in his twilight months of life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
