MARY TKACHUK Mary passed away peacefully March 24, 2010 at the Vita District Health Centre, Vita, Manitoba at the age of 97 years. Mary is survived by her daughter Lillian; sons Bill (Joan), Stan (Joan), John (Rose), and Maurice (Pat). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Mary was predeceased by her husband Mike; sons, Metro, Bobby, Peter, Steve. One son-in-law Wayne, one grandchild George, one great-grandchild Kolton as well as her parents Bill and Lena Goy, brothers Alex, John, Peter, and sister Ann. Mary was born August 20, 1912 in Planky Plains, Manitoba. She and her husband Mike farmed all their married life until retirement. She was a long standing member of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church of Stuartburn, Manitoba. When she moved to Vita, Manitoba she became an active member of the Vita Hospital Guild, as well as helping out with any functions that were going on. Mary always looked forward to having her large family coming out for special occasions, such as Christmas, Easter, And her birthday. She enjoyed gardening, loved to play bingo and doing word search books. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of the Vita Personal Care Home and Hospital for their care and kindness to Mom during her stay. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Viewing will take place on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 7:00 p.m., with Prayers starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel at Vita Funeral Home, Vita, Manitoba. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at The Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Stuartburn, Manitoba with burial following the service, beside her husband Mike in the Church Cemetery.
