Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON MELVIN WEAVER Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the age of 92 years, it is with deep regret that we announce Gordon's passing at the Grace General Hospital. Gordon's brother, Bruce Weaver, passed away just a few short months previously. Gordon was predeceased by his first wife, Norah and also his second wife, Cloy and is survived by his daughter Sheila Hutchinson of Nova Scotia as well as his Grandsons, Gordon and Ryan Hutchinson, also of Nova Scotia; nephews Robert and Glen Weaver and sister-in-law, Alice Weaver. Gordon grew up in the Birnie, Manitoba area and joined the Air Force during the Second World War. He was stationed in Gander, NF as well as Shearwater, NS, where he met his first wife, Norah. He worked as an aircraft mechanic during the war and after the war became an electrician. Gordon settled in Calgary and worked as a grain elevator inspector with the Affiliated Insurance Bureau Limited for quite a few years, and in 1967 was transferred to Winnipeg, where he settled in the St. James area and remained with AIB until retirement. He had a wide variety of interests and always kept busy. As a sideline, he learned how to repair watches and was also an avid gardener. Gordon also was a talented woodworker and helped his brother Bruce with more than one project, including building a birch bark canoe. One of his main achievements was constructing a Grandfather clock. In compliance with Gordon's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Gordon will be missed by both family and friends. At this time, the family would like to express their thanks to the staff and doctors of 4 South at the Grace Hospital for their care during his last days.
