PAUL GERARD LAFOREST It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Paul Gerard LaForest on March 23, 2010 at 52 years of age. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Janet, faithful companion Riley, parents Maurice and Angela LaForest, sister Maurette, brothers Guy and John, nieces and nephews Erin (Darcy), Kristen, Alexis (Bill), Mark and Adam, father-in-law Bill McGuire, sister-in-law Susan and husband Gerry Blixhavn, along with four great-nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles. Paul also leaves behind many good friends and co-workers who will miss him. Paul was born on October 9, 1957 in Fort Frances, ON, where he spent his childhood through to high school graduation. After completing his Industrial Electrician's apprenticeship at the Atomic Energy Nuclear Research Station in Pinawa, MB, Paul spent several years working various construction jobs around the country. When he met Janet in 1990, Winnipeg quickly became his home and they married in 1992. At the time of his passing Paul was employed at New Flyer Industries where he had enjoyed working since 1994. Cremation has taken place. A service of remembrance to celebrate Paul's life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint) on Tuesday, March 30 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation towards heart research at the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6, would be appreciated. The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop at late or early hour. To lose one's wealth is sad indeed, to lose one's health is more. To lose one's soul is such a loss that no man can restore. The present only is our own, so live, love, toil with a will. Place no faith in tomorrow, for the clock may then be still. - Robert H.
