VERA McDONALD 1921 - 2010 Peacefully, on Friday, March 26, 2010, Vera passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 88 one-half years. Vera was predeceased by her parents, Yaroslaw and Annie (Hutzulak) Kunynsky; infant daughter Lauren Patricia; brothers, Syl (Eileen) Gunn, Hilliard Gunn and sister Jean (Art) Shaw; first husband Bruce Phipps McDonald; second husband Tom Saunders. Vera is survived by her daughter Sharon McDonald; husband David Connors; grandsons, Michael and Matthew Connors; sister-in-law Colleen Gunn; cousins, Christeve (Russ) Brankston and stepsons, Tom (Keiko), Allan (Megumi), Clark Saunders; as well as many nieces and nephews. Born in Winnipeg on September 26, 1921, Vera attended Business College and worked at Bristol Aerospace, Heap Arsenych law firm, Toronto Dominion Bank and the Manitoba Legislature. But her proudest career accomplishment included being secretary to Dr. L.O. Bradley at the Winnipeg General Hospital and finally attaining the position of Corporate Secretary to Mr. P. Swerhone involving the merger to form Health Sciences Centre. Our family would like thank Dr. C. Maureen McConnell also the WRHA home care and this past week to E.M.S and the Grace General Hospital for their kind and compassionate care as well as all of our family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 30 at 11:00 a.m. in the Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Avenue.
