Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPTE. JACK WM. HETHERINGTON May 23, 1925 - March 26, 2010 Jack (Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa) after 84 years passed away peacefully March 26, 2010 at Selkirk General Hospital with his family by his side. Jack will now be reunited with his loving wife Clara, his daughter Heather and their loving little dog Teacup. Jack leaves behind his loving children Margaret (Bill), Myrna (Brian), Sharon (Ray), Ellen, Dennis, and son-in-law Richard along with his grandchildren, Russ (Michelle), Candy (Heath), Fay (Ken), Kathy, Ricky (Cathy), Gary (Teresa), Sherry (Dale), Tammy (Mike), Michelle (Trevor), Tyler (Mandy), Kristen, Quinn (Lana), Kim (Andrew), Dennis (Kathy), Dwight (Roberta), Dwayne (Marianne), Coreena, Brad (Denise), Sean (Loreen) and 38 great-grandchildren. Jack also leaves to mourn his loss, his sisters Dorothy (Fred), and Vivian (John). Jack was a proud veteran. We will never forget the story of how he lied about his age so he could join the army. When he finally did turn of age and the army came looking for him he was already overseas fighting for Canada and freedom. He was devoted to the war cause. When he suffered a gunshot wound he returned home, ready to devote his life to his family. That is how he lived his life, dedicated to his family. Countless camping and fishing trip and visits with his children and grandchildren, Jack loved life. Jack and Clara were avid fishers and when Jack finally retired from years of loyal service at Rayovac they could finally spend as much time as they wanted out in their boat at the Narrows, Lac du Bonnet or on the Red. They truly loved it when their children and grandchildren joined them in their constant quest for the master angler! Jack was a dedicated member of the Selkirk Legion Branch 42 and remained a loyal member of the Honour Guard until it became too difficult for him. He will be missed. Our family would like to express our sincere thanks to the nursing staff at Selkirk General Hospital, our heartfelt thanks to the home care staff for their constant dedication to Jack's care. He suffered in silence He his many tears He never complained of his pain or his fears. He fought on so bravely He gave life his best But death won out In the ultimate test. We'll miss you forever And remember your love. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline, Selkirk, MB. with Legion Padre Stephen Sharman officiating. Interment of ashes to follow in the St. Clement's Cemetery. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
