WALTER JOSEPH KIRBY Passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of Sunday, March 28, 2010. Born in St. James, MB to Roy and Florence Kirby on October 11, 1917. He attended Linwood School, St. James Collegiate and the University of Manitoba. Walter served as a Captain in the Calgary Highlanders during the Second World War in England and was on active service in Normandy. He is survived his beloved wife Gwyneth (Gwen), of 63 years, sons Roy of Winnipeg, Glyn (Lois) of Denver, daughters Deborah of Winnipeg, Glynis (Michael) of Vancouver and 13 grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, sister Margaret, beloved daughter Susan and grandson Mathew. He was employed in the hardware and lumber industry until his retirement. Cremation has taken place. Honouring Walter's wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. Interment will take place at a private family celebration of life at a later date. Our sincere thanks are extended to the staff on Tower 5 at Deer Lodge Centre for their compassionate care. Donations, if wished, can be made to the Salvation Army or the Humane Society.
