Holland passed peacefully at Health Sciences Centre on Monday, March 29, 2010 with family and friends by her side. Roz grew up in Sturgeon Creek, attended Bannatyne School and graduated from St. James Collegiate. She then took a general secretarial course at Success Business College, and went on to work for Investors Syndicate, North West Heating, Cook Electric, and retired from Northern Telecom when they closed their Winnipeg Office. Roz's passions were Guiding, Music, Poetry, The Cottage, Swimming, Canoeing, Partying, Travelling, and her family. Roz was adventurous. She hitch-hiked across Europe with her girlfriends, went to Hawaii and The British Isles with her long time B.F.F., Carol Bremner, and spent many annual vacations with her mom in Hollywood Beach, Florida at Val (her blood sister) and Trevor Holm's apartment. Roz was deeply involved in Guiding all of her life. As a baby, she was the Brownie Pack's Mascot, and even had her own baby sized Brownie uniform. She was a Brownie Fairy, a Brownie, a Girl Guide, a Ranger, a Leader, and a Trainer. Roz was a Tawny Owl for the 28th Brownie Pack (started by her grandmother) from 1962 to 1979, took over from her mother as Brown Owl from 1979 to 1995, and when her health would no longer allow her to continue in that position, remained on as a Tawny Owl until her passing. From 1974 to 1985 she was Winnipeg's Arts Advisor for Music. She was awarded the Medal of Merit in 1995, the Fortitude Award in 1997, and a long term service award for 55 years of Guiding in 2009. She was also a member of the Winnipeg Trefoil Guild until her passing. Roz enjoyed playing piano and guitar and loved singing. She was a member of St. James Collegiate Glee Club, Northern Telecom's Choir, The Girl Guide Glee Club, and for almost 50 years, a member of St. Andrews River Heights United Church choir. Roz loved to party and never missed an opportunity to celebrate birthdays or any other event with family and friends. Family was all important and she considered all of our children to be her children. Roz cherished friendship, and truly loved you all. She was proud to call many of you family, as are we. Roz was predeceased by her mother and father Nancy and Len Holland. She is survived by her brother Bruce (Carol) Holland, sister Pat (Ron) Piccini, nieces and nephews Angela (Dave) Gillis, Pam (Scott) Hodge, David Holland (Diane Blahey), Sarah Holland (Bengee Desrochers), and Braydon Stevenson; seven grandnieces and nephews; Aunties, Billie Rutherford.
