JEANNE NOELL (nee VAN ROY) It is with deep sadness that Jeanne's family announces her peaceful passing after a lengthy illness on March 28, 2010 at Riverview Health Center at the age of 87 years. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Otto Noell, sister-in-law Anni Franz and sister Paula Dunning. Jeanne will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Silvia (Garry); grandchildren Sherry (Brent), Frank (Joanne), and Destiny; great-grandchildren Samantha and Zachary; sister Yvonne (Joseph); nieces and nephews Peter, Andrea, Christine, John (Sharon), Ron (Doris), and their families as well as her sister-in-law Elli Taubner. Jeanne was born in Antwerp, Belgium on October 14, 1922. She fell in love and married Otto, in spite of their not speaking the same language, shortly after the Second World War in Germany. She moved to Canada with her family in 1960 and worked as a supervisor in a workshop for the disabled until she retired. Jeanne, with her family, lived happily in the same house in Westwood for 43 years until she moved into a retirement suite at Lindenwood Terrace. She thoroughly enjoyed living there for almost three years and made many new friends. During the past 10 years she valiantly fought cancer (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour) and until recently, refused to allow it to interfere with her enjoyment of life. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Thomson Funeral Home with interment taking place at Brookside Cemetery.
